The problem experienced earlier today was caused by a large Distributed Denial of Service attack against our network. Unfortunately this took time to identify and implement a fix, hence the prolonged disruption.
We'd like to apologise for the inconvenience caused by this, and we are currently looking in to a more automated solution to avoid this from happening in the future.
Engineers have resolved the issue and are currently testing some additional fixes, a full update will be posted shortly.
The cause of this incident has been identified and our engineers are working to resolve the issue as quickly as possible.
